International departure restrictions and cruise ship bans will remain until mid-March – Sydney Morning Herald

The government’s sweeping biosecurity emergency powers are set to be extended by another three months on advice from the country’s chief health officers.

The emergency declaration means that until March next year, limits will remain on outbound international travel, on international cruise ship arrivals, and the operation of retail stores at international airports.
“We know this is very hard for Australians,” the Health Minister said.
Australians continue to only be able to leave the country with specific exemptions. Mr Hunt said 95,325 exemptions have been granted since the declaration was first made in March.
