Man charged with attempted murder after police shooting – Sydney Morning Herald

He allegedly pulled out a knife before being shot by police in Bankstown on Saturday night.



NSW Police Minister David Elliott said he would back the officers “to the nth degree” for the right to defend themselves. He has asked Parliament to consider tougher penalties for people who attack police or emergency services personnel.
“If they’re threatened with a life-threatening act then they’re able to use their firearms and this is a situation where that has potentially occurred,” Mr Elliott said.
Mr Tabikh is due to face Parramatta Bail Court via videolink on Sunday afternoon.
