Berejiklian shrugs off ‘slush fund’ scandal, backs away from ICAC boost – Sydney Morning Herald

Premier Gladys Berejiklian has indicated the state’s corruption watchdog will miss out on an extra $7.3 million as she defended the practice of pork barrelling.



“I suspect that we will leave our budget appropriation bills as they are,” Ms Berejiklian said.
The ICAC, which has conducted landmark corruption inquiries into public officials including those of Mr Obeid and his Labor colleague Ian Macdonald, this year pleaded with the Berejiklian government to address its funding concerns. It warned if it did not receive more money it would be forced to reduce the organisation to its smallest size in its 30-year history.
