Powerful earthquake hits Turkey and Greece, toppling buildings and flooding streets – Sydney Morning Herald

The earthquake set off huge waves that slammed into coastal areas and islands, while up to 20 buildings collapsed in the Turkish city of Izmir.



Izmir mayor Tunc Soyer said about 20 buildings came down in the province. Izmir’s governor said 70 people had been rescued from under the rubble.
