Royal commission seeks 17-month extension saying its work is ‘not a sprint, it’s a marathon’



People with disabilities experience unacceptable and often shocking levels of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation, the royal commission has said in an interim report.
The commissions chair, Ronald Sackville, also revealed on Friday he would ask the federal government for a 17-month extension as he acknowledged the scope of the inquiry may have been underestimated.
