Western Sydney University researchers have implored Penrith City Council to create a heat taskforce ahead of this summer.



Dr Sebastian Pfautsch, a senior lecturer in urban studies at the School of Social Sciences at WSU, said the findings of his research showed the effects of climate change were already apparent.
“There’s no more waiting, climate change is actually happening now,” Dr Pfautsch said.
It comes as the NSW fire season began last Thursday, with the Bureau of Meteorology relaunching its heatwave service to help the community prepare for periods of extreme temperatures, which present major public health …
