A 17ft female shark believed to be more than 50 years old has been caught and tagged off the coast of Nova Scotia by a team of researchers who said it was one of the largest they had ever seen in the northwest Atlantic.
The great white, weighing more than 1.6 tonnes, was caught and guided aboard a ships platform that lifted it up, like a pick-up truck at a garage, for a team of marine biologists to conduct an examination.
