IBAC files 55 charges over alleged education training scam – The Age

The state’s anti-corruption watchdog has charged four people with 55 offences following an investigation into an alleged rort involving dodgy TAFE qualifications and training within Victoria’s education and transport sectors.

In December 2015, IBAC launched Operation Lansdowne to investigate allegations that more than $2 million of taxpayers’ money had been paid, as part of a scam, to a training company for classes that never happened.
At the time it was alleged an independent training company had falsely accessed government funding for the delivery of training at South West TAFE in Warrnambool.
In February 2016, IBAC expanded its investigation to examine activities linked to further training at Kangan in Bendigo.
