The number of confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide has passed 31 million, Johns Hopkins University data shows, while deaths from the virus have passed 966,000.
Victoria’s coronavirus numbers are ahead of where the government’s plan expected the state to be, but authorities need to be hyper-aware of the risk of super spreaders, Premier Daniel Andrews has said.
The Deputy Chief Health Officer Professor Allen Cheng confirmed that around 20 per cent of Victoria’s COVID-19 cases were responsible for 80 per cent of the spread in what are called ‘super spreader’ events.
