Schools learn the lessons from lockdown, want to start and finish earlier – Sydney Morning Herald
A northern beaches school has proposed the day start at 8.25am and end at 2pm, to allow for self-regulated learning sessions. But some parents worry the move won’t suit all students.
Ms Ferris is now suggesting her school start half-an-hour earlier at 8.25am and finish at 2pm. “This is possible because weve removed roll call, shortened breaks, removed transition bells and a few lessons have been shortened by five minutes,” she told parents in a pre-recorded video.
Students would instead be allocated two 30-minute self-regulated learning tasks each day, which could include an activity that builds on an earlier lesson or draft section of an upcoming assessment.
