‘A lot of anxiety’: what happens after a COVID case visits your local cafe – Sydney Morning Herald

On July 30, cafe owner Charles Cameron received a call he had been dreading since the beginning of the pandemic – a confirmed COVID case visited his business.



NSW Health called Matinee owner Charles Cameron and said that staff and patrons had been deemed “casual contacts” of the case.
He had to close immediately and perform a deep clean.
“Matinee was one of the first cafe casual contact cases,” he said.
“So from a PR point of view, you’re dealing with a lot of anxiety within the local community, and misinformation.”
While Mr Cameron, his staff and customers were not required to self isolate for 14 days, other venues were not as lucky.
