TV news and current affairs disproportionately Anglo-Celtic, study finds – Sydney Morning Herald

Almost 76 per cent of TV presenters, commentators and reporters in Australia have an Anglo-Celtic background, according to a new study.

When it came to representation off camera, the study found all national news directors for Australian free-to-air TV were males with Anglo-Celtic backgrounds, with the board members of the networks also overwhelmingly Anglo-Celtic.
The report has reignited tensions over the lack of diversity in Australian news and current affairs. Earlier this year, ABC program Insiders was criticised for not hosting a non-European panelist since at least 2005 (it has since addressed this issue).
