Locked-down Victorian workers to eat up half of JobKeeper 2.0 – Sydney Morning Herald

Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has defended the government’s decision to take a knife to the JobKeeper scheme as locked-down Melbourne relies on the payments.



Premier Daniel Andrews has warned the six-week lockdown that began on July 9 may be extended if new daily cases of COVID-19 remain high.
“Obviously, this is a very difficult time to be making estimates and so it comes with the usual caveats,” Mr Frydenberg said.
The Treasurer said the government’s changes to the scheme were consistent with Treasury advice.
