The UK government said that Border Force officials had been given the go-ahead to grant entry to arriving Hong Kongers fleeing Beijing’s crackdown, while details of a new visa scheme providing them with citizenship are announced this week ahead of its implementation next year.
Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said the government was suspending the extradition treaty immediately and indefinitely.
