Thousands in NSW register for HomeBuilder but main game lies elsewhere – Sydney Morning Herald

The grant scheme provides money to people who sign building contracts by the end of the year, in a bid to stimulate the economy.

Previously Treasury predicted NSW residents would claim 6400 of the total 27,000 grants. The number of registrations does not necessarily translate into the number of grants issued.
Federal Minister for Housing and Assistant Treasurer Michael Sukkar said more than 40,000 Australians had registered their interest in the $688 million fund, which will provide grants to people who sign a building contract by December 31, 2020, with construction beginning within three months of signing.
