Offshore
Things have been ‘Red’ hot around the reef edges throughout October and things should continue as the water starts to warm back up. The bigger Reds on the shallow reefs have proven to remain consistent chewing on soft plastics. Jew on the deeper reefs out to 100 meters are turning up in great numbers taking live and fresh strip baits.
Don’t be surprised if you encounter a few hoodlum Kings fishing with plastics around the reef edges targeting Snapper especially up towards Seal Rocks at Edith Breakers and Cod/North rock areas around Broughton. This time of year, as we lead into summer we tend to hook and lose Kingies, so best of luck with it if you do manage to hook up.
The Lake
Plenty to report with local Lake Mac Fisho A-A-Ron living the dream reporting plenty of Flatties, Bream and having a great time tangling with a few nice Jewies on the drift bouncing vibes and soft plastics throughout the guts of the lake. Not a lot to report on squid and crab movement in the lake but it can’t be very far away.
Bass for days
All the local dams are absolutely cranking right now with everything and the kitchen sink getting the bite. The standouts have been Jackal Tn50’s and soft plastics worked around the bulky structure. Watch this space as this is one of our favorite times of year to fish as it’s hard to beat an afternoon fishing the Fresh for an Aussie Bass.
Beaches
Why not soak up the warming weather and spend an afternoon living the life of a millionaire kicking back soaking a few baits with a brew on one of the many beaches our area has to offer.
Bream, Whiting, Salmon and the odd Jewie after dark are the main attractions hanging out on the beaches especially up around the Tin city area on Stockton.
