Maintaining a safe and healthy workplace is the highest priority for our industry. We also place great importance on environmental management and supporting our local mining communities.

That’s why our Health, Safety, Environment and Community Conference held each year in the Hunter is such an important event for mining in NSW.

Our Conference was sold out this year with more than 500 people from the Hunter and across NSW gathering to share ideas and listen to a range of speakers from industry and government.

The Conference brought our industry together to discuss our challenges, identify innovation opportunities, and celebrate excellence. The conference also focused on how to further improve health and safety for our workforce and quality of life for our local mining communities.

The Health, Safety, Environment & Community Awards are a highlight of the Conference, showcasing the best innovations from across the industry in NSW.

Our award entrants were of a very high standard, demonstrating our industry’s commitment to workplace safety and environmental management, and supporting local mining communities

Special congratulations must go to Glencore this year for winning two of the four award categories, with the Glencore Ravensworth Operation winning both the Environment and Safety categories. Congratulations to Thiess Mt Owen who took out the award for Health Excellence and to BHP Mt Arthur Coal took out the Community Excellence award.

The achievements of our award winners highlight the importance of our HSEC conference. As an industry, we continually strive to improve our workforce health and safety, minimise our impact on the environment, and find new ways to support our local communities.
